PRAXIS

  • LEADERSHIP

  • HOLY SPIRIT

  • PRAYER

  • PRAXIS

Those are some of the titles of the groups that we were told to choose from  in the Youth Conference that I attended a couple of years ago.

The first three titles above topped the most numbers of members.  The last didn't get any.

I did not choose it either.  I preferred to join the group for would be bloggers.

But given a chance to choose again.  I will opt to pick the group called. PRAXIS.

Perhaps the reason why it was snob was because of the tunfamiliarity of the word to many, especially to the youth.  The truth is, it means so simple.

PRAXIS means practicing what we preach or walking our talk.

I think that all beliefs hinge on the fact that faith needs to be put into action.

During our group discussion in Midweek Service, we chose to discuss our respective PRAXIS.

Kuya Amos

My son, Amos and me shared about our dealing with Ayen. I have shared a great deal about Ayen in my previous posts.  You can check it out to see how we try to  serve Ayen in our own small ways.

Karl
Our pianist, Karl, belonged to our group.  His talent for music is what he shares with students of UST by being a pianist to them without expecting a renumeration.  Even if, he, himself is in need, he does not close his eyes to people who might be as needy or needier than him.

Teacher Irene

Teacher Irene handles our learning center.  But she is not exempted from lending a hand to a helpless individual.  One time, a lady walked in to our church and looked for someone to comfort her.  She found what she is looking for in Teacher Irene.  She was no longer a stranger since they are now friends.  It is such a blessing to know that strangers can still come to our church and find a home.  One afternoon, Teacher borrowed money from me.  In our discussion that night, she confessed that the money she borrowed from me, she gave to the lady who visited her again and had no money to pay for a jeepney fare back home.

The lady is broke these days.  She is her family's bread winner but she seems to be a victim of an illegal recruiter.

Teary eyed, the woman said to Teacher Irene, "It is only to you whom I owe something (Sa iyo lang ako may utang)."

Teacher Irene whispered to herself, "Kay pastor Arnel ka may utang, hindi sa akin."

It is inspiring to know that people, like teacher Irene, who is not that well off could still afford helping another needy person, even if it means borrowing money from a needy pastor.  Hahahahahahaha!

The experiences above are what we call, CHRISTIAN IN ACTION.
