BRODBOND

One of the persons that I met during my vacation in Mindoro is a pastor from the Alliance Church named Ryan.

He served as one of my hosts because it was in his place where I sleepover for three nights

Pastor Ryan and his place

At the back of his place is the church building.

He was so gracious as a host.  He let me used his bed while he slept on the floor.

He cooked breakfast for us.

The night that we met, we talked about pastoral ministry over a cup(s) of coffee.  He drinks an average of six cups  a day.

Pastor Ryan is 27 years old, single and a native of Sultan Kudarat.  It happened that the Alliance Church in Najuan, Mindoro needed a pastor, thus, they approved of Pastor Ryan's application to be the pastor.

He narrated how he managed to survive his schooling in Bible College where even cats can be a target for a meal.

It was then that I asked how much financial support he is  receiving.  Four thousand pesos a month plus five hundred for visitor's allowance.  By visitor's allowance he means serving food to his visitors,  like me.

He also said that he also helps his family in Mindanao.  Added to that are the requests for help he is getting from seminarians in the Bible College where he studied.

It doesn't take a Math genius like me, to know that his financial support could not really support.  Hahahahahahaha!

But one thing I noticed is the strength of his faith.  A number of times his friends encouraged him to try other denominations that support their pastor better but Pastor Ryan argued that, the same God will support His children whatever denomination they belong.

I was thinking then, that, me as his guest who shares with him, the consumption of his supplies in the kitchen, would make his tight budget, tighter.  Hahahahahahaha!

And you know what?  He even have chocolate candies for a treat  during our trip to Tinaguan Falls and Little Boracay.

As my gracious host and my fellow pastor, I was  already thinking of what I can give him as a token of my appreciation for his generosity.

Since I was also short of cash that time, I just thought of giving him this:

And suddenly there were two voices in my mind.  The voice of a giver and the voice of a taker.  Hahahahahahahaha!

It was not easy giving him my Smart Broadbond because I need it too.  It is my constant travel companion and my 911 whenever the internet connection in my place sucks.

Actually, he has a wireless Globe Broadbond  but there is no signal in his place.

I thought of asking him for a swap.  But I don't want my giving to have any condition.  Di ba dakila lang? Hahahahahaha! By the time  I went to bed on the third night, I was resolved to give my broadbond to him.

He was sweeping the frontyard when I bade goodbye to him the next morning.

I handed him my token and he was surprised and happy to receive it.

The night I was backed home, both of us were online.  He thanked me again to the highest for the broadbond and told me that it was an answer to his prayers and less to his wish list.

The time I was talking to him, only happiness reign in my heart,  The struggle to give was completely gone.

I think that giving him the broadbond is one of the SMARTest generosity that I've ever  done.

GOODBYE BROADBOND! HELLO BROD - BOND!
